PAYROLL INFORMATION

BCF Casting is not the employer for Extras and we do not issue any payments or cheques. Extras are employed by each production and cheques are issued by their payroll company. Payroll companies also mail Revenue Canada T4A slips to all Extras for income tax purposes. Please contact them directly if you have any questions - you can find their contact information on your cheque stub or at the websites below.

CAST & CREW

ENTERTAINMENT PARTNERS

The standard pay rate for a non-union Extra is minimum wage in British Columbia.

Lunch breaks are not paid.

After 8 work hours, overtime is paid per Provincial standards.

In order to ensure that you are paid on time, please make sure your time sheet is always filled out neatly and completely with your legal name, full home mailing address including your city and postal code, and your valid Canadian Social Insurance Number. If productions are missing any of this information or they can’t read your hand writing, they will not be able to process your time sheet.

Also please note that in order to be paid you must sign out on your time sheet before leaving at the end of your work day.

All cheques are mailed via Canada Post and the standard time frame to receive payment is approximately two to three weeks depending on mail delivery in your area.

IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED YOUR CHEQUE IT COULD HAVE BEEN DELAYED DUE TO ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ISSUES:

INVALID OR INCOMPLETE CANADIAN SOCIAL INSURANCE NUMBER

Accounting departments will not issue a cheque if your Social Insurance Number came up as invalid or incomplete. In order to get paid on time, it’s very important that you make sure you write your Social Insurance Number clearly on your time sheet each time you work.

INVALID OR INCOMPLETE MAILING ADDRESS

Accounting departments will not issue a cheque if your home mailing address came up as invalid or incomplete. In order to get paid on time, it’s very important that you make sure you clearly write your full home mailing address, including your city and postal code, on your time sheet each time you work.

INVALID OR INCOMPLETE WORK PERMIT

Accounting departments will not issue a cheque if your work permit came up as invalid or incomplete. In order to get paid on time, it’s very important that you provide photo copies of both your valid Social Insurance Number and your valid work permit each time you work. If either of these documents have expired the production will not be able to pay you.

ILLEGIBLE HANDWRITING

Accounting departments will not issue a cheque if they can’t read your handwriting on your time sheet. In order to get paid on time, it’s very important that you make sure all of your information is written clearly on your time sheet each time you work.

MAIL DELIVERY

Has it been three weeks since you worked? The standard time frame to receive payment is approximately two to three weeks depending on mail delivery in your area. Remember that Canada Post does not deliver mail on statutory holidays or weekends so this will lengthen the delivery time for your cheque.

CHANGE OF RESIDENCE

Have you moved to a new residence? In order to get paid on time, please make sure you have your mail forwarded to your new home address. Productions and payroll companies are not responsible for lost mail and there is often a service charge to reissue a cheque.
